Drawing in the sand

I wanted to share an incredible video that my friend brought to my attention this weekend. It’s a performance from the winner from Ukraine’s version of “America’s Got Talent” (which I believe is America’s version of Britian’s Got Talent).

Kseniya Simonova is a Ukrainian artist who just won Ukraine’s version of “America’s Got Talent.” She uses a giant light box, dramatic music, imagination and “sand painting” skills to interpret Germany’s invasion and occupation of Ukraine during WWII.

The video is 8:31 long but is worth watching.

What’s so amazing about this is it shows that talent is not bound by convention. Yes Kseniya is a talented artist. Yes she creates beautiful images. Yes she is a prolific storyteller. Yes the choreography is incredible. Bu she’s using dirt!! Think of the hours of preparation, practice, working and reworking of this performance that went into making this performance.

To me, the point of this video is that it doesn’t matter what God gives you to work with so long as your story is told.

We, just like Kseniya, all have a story to tell. And each of us has been gifted with special talents. So the question I ask is: how can you use what God has given you, even the very dirt beneath your feet, to tell your story?
